Dear Readers,
Welcome to October!
As I sit down to write this post, I’m on heavy preparations for my upcoming trip to New York City; my highlight of the month. The thought of me strolling through Central Park with my friends, wrapped in my cosy fall outfits and surrounded by golden leaves (hopefully!), fills me with so much excitement. Sipping something warm, chatting, and gazing up at the iconic skyline, all while soaking in all the autumnal vibes the city has to offer.
SOMETHING OLD, SOMETHING NEW
When I visited NYC last year, it felt like the most thrilling metropolis, almost knocking London off its pedestal as my favourite city ever. I guess what I love about this city is how familiar yet wonderfully foreign it feels, a perfect fusion of old-world charm and modern urban aesthetic. The overall NYC vibe aligns with something that I love seeing in my home, the beautiful dance between the old and the new, the past and the present.
On the very first day of October, I received the loveliest comment from a stranger about a vintage tablecloth I had shared on a story from my balcony. They praised how elegantly it complemented my modern space. Naturally, I was flattered and it made me realise just how much I adore blending vintage with contemporary. There’s something undeniably special about pairing the old with the new. And I think I am not alone in thinking so as I have noticed a revival of interest in vintage and second hand pieces on social media.

WHY VINTAGE
It feels like a trend that’s really catching on these days, but for me, it’s always been more than that “cheap second-hand finds.”. It’s about collecting what resonated with me, creating a home that’s authentic, unique, reflective of my personal journey. Something that doesn’t simply mirror the aesthetics of another Instagram account. I love combining vintage pieces with modern touches to make my space feel personal and reflective of my own story. This blend feels a lot more special, personal, and allows the freedom of expression that cannot easily be replicated.
Some of my favourite vintage pieces in the flat come from flea markets. I am always excited discovering something with history that can be repurposed in a contemporary setting. My most cherished pieces are:
My Asian (once thought to be Japanese) paintings,
my Chinese cabinet,
my vintage crystal glasses,
and of course, my mum’s beautiful silver candleholders.
These items carry so much sentiment and character, bringing stories of the past into my home’s current aesthetic. They remind me that creating a home isn’t just about filling it with beautiful objects, it’s about curating a space that tells something about the owner, mixing memories with new beginnings.
I hope to bring more of these meaningful pieces into ARONIA, continuing to evolve this space into something that reflects not just my aesthetic but my life, my journey. A place where we bring together the old and the new, where every piece holds a memory, and every new person makes us a better version of ourselves.
Love,
Andriana
